What are your plans for the new year?

Any big plans for the new year?

Personally, the highlights for this year was the Lua Book (http://www.apress.com/9781430246626) which you can get as an eBook with a 50% discount with the code SNOW12 before 31-Dec-12 and Z-DAY Survival simulator which was then also created in Chinese amongst some other smaller projects that were used in-house and some tools which were demo'ed but not released (as they would be used internally for app development)

In the coming year, OZ Apps is looking at Enterprise Applications and Education. With a whole lot of other enhancements and tools available, 2013 is looking quite a year to look forward to, specially that now a lot of companies are seriously considering Cross-Platform app creation than simply iOS (Objective-C) or Android (Java) apps. In fact in Australia Android have outsold Apple devices, if that is any indication to go by.

Would you want to share your thoughts/plans

@Mells, I am sure we will see your game being released ;)
@Moopf, Waiting for your app, forgetting the name off the top of my head, the one with the cat and the house, love your artists work, looking forward to seeing the app

@Gorkem, It's time that we have a local cloud based service, we have countly for analytics, how about extending it for data
@Atilim, can we have countly tightly integrated instead of flurry?

@OZApps - The Looshkin app (the cat and the house) unfortunately took a bit of a back seat second half of this year for a few reasons - the artist Jamie Smart has been incredibly busy and I've been engaged on a couple of meaty e-commerce projects. However, we've been planning setting aside time from January onwards every month to move it forward again so I'm hopeful we can get release in 2013. Much of the engine is already in place and has been for a while now.

I'm actually about 90% finished on another app, a falling blocks game (not a clone though, I hasten to add - it's an idea I've had on paper since 2008), which I'm going to attempt to finish off the coding and artwork on over Christmas and New Year then get the music sorted and release hopefully somewhere around Feb. I decided to do this as an exercise in going through the complete process with Gideros because...

...I started talking to a big UK charity in Feb this year and this week I'm signing contracts to start on a 6-month game app project for them starting in January which I'll be using Gideros for (this is the one that's made me push for certain features which are now available). I can't believe how long it's taken for this one to come to fruition, but now it has I'm really excited to get going on it.

So that's the first half of 2013 sorted, no idea what will happen in the second half - I'm talking to a couple of companies about app projects so we'll see where they lead. I definitely agree that cross-platform has become much more desirable this year and if you can offer it cost effectively using a system like Gideros then it puts you in a really strong position.

Assuming we're all still here next year ;) I like to concentrate on getting some more commisions and freelance work under my belt - it's always nicer to have a guaranteed figure to aim for when working that taking a gamble in the App Store Lottery!

Ultimately I'd like to get to a place where I can be indie / self employed full time but I'm nowhere close enough yet, but moving closer every day!

My goal is to do some mini games/prototypes on a fairly regular basis (still trying to decide on a period of time, I'm thinking of aiming for once a month) to make myself get out of the habit of over designing and not enough programming as well as use the practice to learn the gotchas with mobile development. In the meanwhile, I also want to get some work done on at least 2 games I've had ideas for for several years that I had originally thought to make Flash games out of.

I have to finish this --> http://www.igi-global.com/publish/call-for-papers/call-details/720 and a big project I'm working on (that will produce a _lot_ of noise heh).
