While Atilim is trying to integrate Facebook for both the platforms, Wax could be the intermediate answer to the issues and offer a Lua wrapper to the Facebook API for the iOS platforms.
@Andy do you have the time or the inclination to give this a go? After all the libraries used by Facebook can be used like a library and thereby accessed using Lua via Wax.

This is not exactly using the Facebook Graph API, but only using it for sharing and on iOS6 only.

If it is integrated, that's wonderful... however this can be used to share to Facebook, twitter or Sina Wiebo but not for Android users obviously.
Update: Even http://www.giderosmobile.com/documentation/reference_manual.html does not have the updates, It was the local documentation that has the Facebook plug-in for iOS. Hmmm

But for the reason why official docs are not updated, my guess would be that they are trying to apply new template.
