This was a very popular modular code written in Java (by IBM) that was used to create your own bots and have them pit against each other and see which one won. It has I believe been ported to .net

3 years ago when I was working in my previous company, I organized an internal contest, people needed to write their AI code in a Battle Ship game, but the technical idea was using client-server architecture, not interpreting source code
