What about this issue:
"Google Play services out of date. Requires 4242000 but found 4034512" and Google Play Game service is not available.
It seems Google has deprectated previous Google Play Game Services API. Someone with the same problem?
Do we need Google Play Store in Android devices or is it optional?

My question is ¿do you need Google Play Service on any Android device?. Many Android devices do not have Google Play Service app installed as default or even it can not be installed.
I suppose I can check googleplay:isAvailable() and use another option in this case.
And yes you can try using isAvailable
