Advice with UrlLoader class

This might be a dumb question but I'm writing a function to download a text file using the UrlLoader class, I understand that you need to add the appropriate handlers for the various events, but I was wondering do you have to remove the event listeners (in onComplete and onError) or is it handled automatically - the reason I ask is that none of the examples provided show the event handlers being removed. ???
