Atilim won't disappear, will he?

Yesterday my CEO was asking me if it is not better to switch to Unity now that it has 2D, he fears that Gideros being mostly a one-man company, will be "gone" in case of Atilim getting a very nice job offer somewhere...

I convinced him to stick with Gideros, but... he has a good point.

in any case the much discussed weekly/monthly feedback about progress on roadmap is not appearing on the blog or elsewhere.
but overall i don't/wouldn't worry about gideros.

I doubt that @Atilim will disappear and @Ar2rsawseen takes over, however @ar2rsawseen has managed to be the face and voice of Gideros, leaving Atiim to be the brains and the heart of Gideros.

Hello,
while I would probably share the concern in your place, still is it the main factor that concerns the developers or CEOs?
As in price does not matter, environment does not matter, even language does not matter? I am asking because I need to know and if so, maybe we need to do something about it

For now, the only way where @atilim disappears is in his coding nirvanas

And bussiness trips/meetings, those also sometimes take days, when I don't hear from them. But hey that actually a nice point, meaning they are looking for partners and investments

But yes, most probably @OZApps right, if something is going to happen and no one could support Gideros anymore, it would most probably go Open Source.

That's true. But of course there isn't any worst case scenarios at the moment. In fact, we want to make some parts of Gideros open-source in the future. We just haven't planned/organized it yet.

What about XNA? Backed by one of the largest companies in the world. Oh wait...

Big or small, companies and products come and go. I wouldn't switch because of that fear. In the worse case scenario you finish up your current product and switch then.

Unity is backed by a large VC that is going to want to get a payout at some point. Microsoft has dropped XNA and is now giving out Unity licenses for Xbox One developers. I'm thinking Microsoft will buy Unity, give Windows platforms favorable status and pricing while hindering development on other platforms. How's that for a what-if?
