If you don't have iOS developer license (the famous $99 ), you cannot install it on your device even if anyone sends you the .ipa file. because the .ipa file should be (re)signed with your certificate + mobile provisioning profile.
Before anybody can help you, you have to tell them what the problem is. Saying you get an error doesn't help anyone.
If you go to a mechanic and say "help, my car is broken", the first thing he will ask is "What do you mean by broken?".
So I have to ask What error do you get? Is the error during compile time? Is it an error when you try to install on your iDevice? Is it an error because your mac has run out of storage and can't store the compiled app?
OK, the last one is a bit silly and highly unlikely but unless you give more specific information, nobody will be able to help.
Step 1. Install XCode and let it install the iOS sdk's 2. Create a simple iOS app from one of the XCode templates (just press build) 3. If you can build, deploy and run the simple app, then unzip the player project into it's own folder and just open the XCode project - if your environment is setup correctly it WILL build and install / run with NO errors or warnings.

@techdojo: WTF, how can you give an answer like that when you don't know what the error is? As @atilim says, the fun is in the guessing what the error is.
Maybe the error is actually not related to XCode or IOS at all. Maybe whenever he tries to compile his mac shuts down. We just don't know.
But... As I know (being a fanboi mac owner!) that the supplied player project DOES compile and run with no errors, then the error MUST be down to how he's got his XCode installation setup.
That's troubleshooting 101 - eliminate the obvious and concentrate on the possible!
So by that reckoning if you can't complete the simplest steps possible in XCode (new project from template, build and run) then you'll at least get some kind of sensible error (which yes I agree the OP has to at least POST if he wants help), which would serve to throw some light on the problem.
It's most likely to be an issue with his certificates - a notorious problem with iOS development.
