I want to create a side-scroller with GIderos. Where do I begin?

I spent a lot of time doing research the best game engine for iOS/Android and it appears Gideros is a better alternative to Corona! I've used the search function and peaked through the tutorials section, but don't see anything on side-scrolling games. Since Corona also uses Lua and has a more extensive number of tutorials compared to Gideros, should I check out the tutorials for Corona?
I'm brand new to to Lua, but I know how to make sprites and I've made 3D games before - so many terms I'm coming across are familiar. I'm highly motivated and have the tools; now, I just need to acquire the knowledge.

This example also has box2d physics engine attached to it, if you don't need it, you can make it even more easier
