Hey everyone
After releasing my Lost Caverns game I've been deciding on my next project and I thought I'd ask a fairly obvious question:
How do you decide on a new niche for your game?
In my other business, the process was straight forward, if time consuming:
1) Pick a niche with decent profit potential
2) Research demand
3) Research competition
4) Decide on niche and test in the real world
Are there any tools or sources of information for the app / game market that can help accomplish something similar? There's Google's Keyword research tool, but what are some other tips to deciding on a game niche that isn't already done to death by people with larger budgets?

I think for example Flurry, release quarterly or bi-anually reports on gamer demographics, like gender, age and genres.
Like this for example: http://flurrymobile.tumblr.com/post/115192642055/mobile-gaming-females-beat-males-on-money-time
So based on that you can see the majority of players are females over 30, playing management/simulation and try to come up with a theme that suits them
