Hi Phongtt, in my opinion, I think that GC has been made available as a plug-in, so can OF, it is hardly an issue. Specially given that you can add Plug-ins so easily while compiling your app. However an official inclusion by @atilim or @Gorkem would be nice.
I am not so sure how important OF might be at this given point of time given that a lot of people are interested in In-App purchases, and Kiip.me etc. Who know what else comes up that could change the way we look at apps.
As far as I understand, OF is still useful even for freemium apps. The main point of OF is that it helps us promote our apps via its well-known channel and it has a very big user base.
I totally agree with @OZApps and although it's possible to add OpenFeint as a plugin, unfortunately the official implementation won't come in the very near future. Because other 3rd party libraries (IAP and Ad) have higher priority than OpenFeint.
On the other hand, a basic OpenFeint integration should be easy and if you want to integrate it as a plugin, we're always here to help you.
After re-reading the thread, I think I was not clear enough - or maybe I still don't understand you guys' point
I was talking about a way to get better visibility for a game (among a forest of games on AppStore - you know how it is), and OF's freegameoftheday seems helpful for that. This is the first stage.
Then, to make the game more addictive to players (thus retention and good rival, good image/credit about the developer) we use some techniques, among which is kiip. But that's the second stage.
I mean no matter how good a game is, if it can't get right in front of the eyes of many players, it'll have little chance.
Shouldn't app use OF to participate in freegameoftheday? And isn't OF same as Kiip (achievements, scores, etc)? So is it better to use OF or Kiip, after all?
afaik, we have to integrate OF into our game. A glance at kiip, seems not really the same with OF (anyone can share real life experiment?), if not to say that OF has the the site freegameoftheday.com to help promote our game
@phongtt, OpenFeint was the only cross platform option available before Apple's Game Center. After OF was taken over by a Japanese company, I have seen that agressive marketing, still like any company, they will promote what will help them in return.
So unless your app is *great* and is selling wonderfully and uses OF, they will not bother to feature your app. Today it is more advantageous for Android developers than iOS.
Kiip is for monetization, like virtual currency, etc where as OF is for HighScores and adding the social aspect of things.
This is a totally personal preference, I am not a fan of OF, and if you feel that OF integration will help boost sales, well, then go for it. I saw yesterday on Twitter about a developer that made a million+ recently, the comment was, "The App/Game matters, not the tools."
Btw, quite agreed with your last statement. We can't succeed with an average game no matter what we do with marketing and stuff, so obviously quality is the first prequisite. Anyway, for me it'll be "The App/Game matters, suitable tools should definitely be a big plus"
Thanks again for sharing your opinion and knowledege.
Hi atilim, what are the needed steps to build a plugin for Gideros Studio? I mean, is there any tutorial to start? I'm interesing in making a game using Gideros Studio, but i would like to integrate with Open Feint...
Thanks!

Hi @scouser, any java plugin example available already? I think this is quite important to developers so they can integrate ads and with social networks on android.
I think it's not required a great example, but something simple, that allows developers to start using it and get to know better how it works...

BTW, thanks for introducing kiip.me

(Also I haven't known kiip. Thanks @OZApps)
