Finally after such a long time, because my MBP stopped charging and to save myself from my withdrawal symptoms of being unable to use the Laptop, I gave in and tried Clash of the clans. finally after hearing so much about it.
It is nice and polished, if anyone has played CnC games like RedAlert and it's variants then this is similar, collect resources, build armies and fight. The only difference is that every time you fight, you lose all of your armies that were deployed. Plus the armies deployed attack based on their own AI rather than where you want them, so rather than attack the defenses they go for the main buildings. Plus like any of the he online games, the resources are not queued.
It would be fun to make something like this without online play using Gideros if some members are interested. It would be a nice collaborative project.
Just a thought.

I have no problem with coding, graphical assets is what bothers me the most
Well, it depends on how it would concentrate on, if it's aesthetic, then surely it would be the big problem.
If it fails or succeeds either ways it should be a fun experience, if it lasts through without fall outs

It's not an issue in an ideal world within ideal conditions.
I myself, would say i don't have time. But if the project itself somehow get started and rolled on, i might throw myself in if i interested, and probably others too.
At least, we need prototype, or just a gameflow first, so we can understand what it is gonna be. (Because it's just feels weird, when you said Clash of Clan offline, most of fun factor is gone.)
And of course, we need some kind of project leader.

I have never installed Clash of Clans/Candy Crush and any other games of that kind.
Too afraid of becoming addicted :O
So are we agreed on the topic? Clash of clans like game, with our own additions and stuff?
If there is anything i could help with... being a mail run gopher, spell checking, testing, supplying donuts and latte's let me know...

But first I would like to know in which theme/time/Period the game should take place.
Will it be historical, fantasy, Sci-Fi? If historical, which episode?
I would rather go for either Sci-Fi or Fantasy. Both themes are completely open to any design we choose. There is nothing that can't be done.

.
We can use github for code and issues
Trello for categorizing and to do list
Forum thread for communication
planio and podio which could handle whole project management, have limitations to team quantities for free plans, so most probably that won't cut
btw. Does Gideros Tilemap rendering support isometric maps these days?
I am open to all jobs, translating, debugging, testing, coding, story creation, brainstorming etc...
Count me in :ar!
She said she got boring too quickly, all the actions are the same and that it might not be worth making such exact game.
Also it might be too huge for a first community project
and for long processes as building there would be a need for backend servers for time syncing, etc (or else players can simply change clock on the phone)
So maybe we could try something else?
Or everyone is up to it?
Break it down, it has a couple of things,
1. Resource gathering - this gets funds which are used to buy units, upgrades, etc
2. City building - this is the collection of the buildings that you can build to get your city/powerful.
3. Unit building - units are of different types that can help defend, build, etc
4. Supremacy - fight others and prove your supremacy or test your units and defenses.
Upgrades, etc can take long times, these can be sped up using premium in-game currency.
COC has an added feature that is locating a similar clan that you can fight, adding to the online part( something that I am not very pleased about)
Have you played Starcraft, supreme commander, red alert, TiberianSun etc? These are classic examples of these types of games. They also have quick matches, head-on contests, etc.
It is strange how the thread goes fm positive to negative, where some members start with, YES and then it reaches, NO I cannot manage it, back to YES ( which is good ).
It is not exactly an easy task nor is it a very difficult one, red alert was written in VB, so figure. The part that will become a bit of an issue will be the sheer number of people and what they can or will and when they do.
GitHub USA. Good idea if we. Agree to make this an open source project, so a few questions are would this be an open source or closed source project, then do ewe limit the initial number of people that work on this and their roles, etc.
First we need to scope out what are the features that we want to have in this, defining what we will have and what we will alter and how.

Like diablo there are large variaty of armors, weapons and potions.
I played and finished it and still playing time to time in multiplayer mode. ( I confess when i was in toilet usually )

The only difference is that it turned from 2.5d to 3d with generals.
