I've done some 3D shader work, but has anyone tried making a shader similar to the "Blur" effect in the luashaders example? I'm thinking I might want a shader that can make some 3D elements appear out of focus. If that can be done with a shader, that would be slick. If not I can make a blurry skybox to surround the scene.
Any suggestions?

I'm making this harder than it has to be. I'll just make a low-contrast, not distracting texture. The goal is to surround the virtual fly tying (making fishing flies) station I'm working on.
For future projects it would be great to have a depth-of-field shader, though!
