Old gideros web server shut down

Hi All,

I have been wanting to shut down old gideros web site for years, since it was merely only holding front web page, which was largely un-maintained. The underlying idea is to save hosting costs (about 250 EUR a year).

So I finally did it, and migrated what I thought was important to the same server already hosting the forum and the wiki, fixing up a few links and texts during the migration. In the end I'd like the wiki to act as Gideros front page, but I am not talented enough for this task.

Meanwhile, old www.giderosmobile.com is now off, and I'd like you all to check if I missed something, before I drop completely the server. I have made selective backups in case of, anyway.

Thanks for your time.

thanks for the work. i agree to streamline online presence.

https://static.gideros.rocks/ is a strange homepage name, cannot it be simplified to https://gideros.rocks/ or something similar?

does it still make sense to say that gideros exports to Windows Phone and Windows RT? shouldn't we rather include Linux instead?

True and true: I have changed the canonical page name to www.gideros.rocks, and fixed target platforms description.

One important thing though, I removed completely the database behind the migrated web site (hence the static domain). This means that there is no longer developer accounts, app showcases but also no more fake and nasty app descriptions.

I think the Wiki is a better place for this, trusted contributors can ask for an account on the Wiki and if anyone want something to be published on the wiki, a selected few of us can edit it.

thank you hgy29, https://www.gideros.rocks/ is like the old one minus the extra costs! good job o:)
Is it possible to edit it like the wiki?

    For example there is this:
    It's FREE
Just register and use it for FREE. You can even publish your apps, with a small splash screen of "Made with Gideros". Upgrade later if you like what you can do with it!

    which is no more relevant?

Unfortunately not, that's why I'd like to find a way to achieve similar looking pages in the wiki, otherwise those static pages will stay un-maintained.

I don't understand :s you want to make the wiki look like the new gideros web site (css, fonts, ...)?

No, I don't care much about fonts nor colors, but I think those presentation pages should be laid out more like the old site than a documentation. It would be great to port the old site to the wiki in markdown, so that anyone could edit it.

I would keep the domain www.giderosmobile.com as a redirect to the new domain, it is known to google and someone else could buy it and use it for scam. I am sure we could find a cheaper alternative since it's a domain only.

@pie, I figured out why you couldn't access, I missed a redirection rule for the forum. It should work ok now.
