I know many developer's here are from Corona and I've heard a lot of reasons for it. So I'd really like to hear what brings you here from MOAI? And how Gideros is in comparison with MOAI?
in fact i started with corona first and i red many people complain of poor android performance. So i found MOAI and i was very happy for some 3 months. I had idea. I did lot of coding. Then i was away for a month and they released their next version and my code couldn't work anymore. There were lots of API changes i spent 5 days digging in docs to fix things up. And this wasn't for the first time. Eventually i got frustrated and i gave up. Anyway MOAI is great API but the rush for features makes it badly documented, so you have to learn mostly by trial and error method which i don't like much. I mentioned there that sometimes its more important to have stable and well documented API... You know what i mean. There are more reasons but frequent API changes with delayed documentation makes game coding pain. Sure i can stick to a version but then no bug fix for me, right! I love gideros solid documentation and the concept to hook for GL swap bufffers. At the time i left MOAI it was impossible to sync to a video buffer swap with all the following problems.
@GregBug, Cm'on you guys living in Europe can travel countries like no ones business, they are short distances compared to some others. I have exhausted the Chilometri Pass (cannot spell it properly) while traveling and holidaying through Italy.
Loved traveling through Europe (France, Switzerland, Germany, Holland and Belgium). it is different from driving 300/400 Kms to the next large Town here in Australia.
@OZApps hey but Australia is Fantastic! (and big!) (I've only seen in documentaries) before the birth of my son, my wife and I were traveling a lot ...
hope you liked Italy...

@arthurs, Taking the TGV from Paris to Marseilles ( just before the world cup in 98) was shorter (half the distance) and faster to reach than from where I live to Brisbane(the closest Metropolitian) and that is like traveling really far but it was worth spending some time in Aix-en-provence. I was at the Eiffel Tower France 602 days to the Y2K (as it was displayed on the Eiffel tower at the time)
@Greg, I have also seen western Australia in documentaries, it is that big. I have traveled on the East coast and visited the larger cities, haven't yet donned the Tourist's grab. If I can save up again, I intend to travel round the country (sigh, dreams) I did love Italy, it was full of uh, Italians (which was good) I traveled in the central and the northeastern parts. While I have a very close and good friend who was in Pescara, that was where I traveled to mostly while enjoying a trip via Rome.
Managing the IT for BMW Dealerships had it's perks (Visits and conferences in Germany) On one of our IT manager's conferences, there was the IT Manger from Romania who drove in to Gut Ising and for dinner we drove across countries to Salzburg, Austria. This was a bit dis-orienting at first but being close to the border was not much of an issue and they were all EU countries. Similarly it was also a 3/4 hour road trip from Muscat to Dubai. Some of the Germans that worked with us said they would drive (motorbikes) down from Munchen through Switzerland and down to Italy, have a pizza, cuppachino and drive back to Munich.
I do miss all of that, the problem is even if you drive like a 1000Kms you are still in Australia and maybe still in the same State (as in Territory).
You guys are welcome if you come to this side of the world.
Just for discussions sake, if you could choose any place in the world, which would you choose and what would you want (hi-speed internet, a harem, the beaches from Nice, etc) and most importantly why?
I'd probably want to try to live in some busy city for some time, like New York. In a spacious apartment with a view to Central Park. And yeah all I need is an Internet and sometimes some food
@Arturs, however it has become the reverse for me, also having lived in Mumbai where there are more people than in the whole of Australia and Sydney, I would love to live somewhere in a swiss village, but not sure if I will like it for long, but still a laid back place would be better than the crisp 'suit' cities, had enough of them... and somewhere cooler, I have generally lived in hot or humid climates so far.
Here in Latvia the weather is so unpredictable. You can get up to +30C in summer and down to -30C in winter (which is kind of bad due to humidity and children are advised to stay home). For example last year, we had a first snow in January, whether this year we had a first snow today (oh you don't want to be in Latvia today). As I said, very unpredictable
@OZApps You've been next to my hometown (I used to live 1 hour from Aix en Provence and it's one of my favorite places), middle way between Marseille/Aix en Provence and Nice. The TGV between Paris and Marseille is even faster now.
I'm too interested in seeing the world to stay in the same place too long though (now in Tokyo, and next....?).
@Mells I think you're right. Many names has "s" in the end of the word in Latvian language, so original must be Arthur, which by the way is a Celtic word meaning bear.
@Mells, I was in a small place near provence, called Chateau Neuf le Rouge, and right out from the window (Literally) was Mount Saint Victorie. The world is a small place isn't it? Who would have thought you were from France. It must be fun for you to compare the Bullet Train vs the TGV, right?
Actually they were called Arthurs, one is Arthurs Lysons.
@OZApps Oh, I know Châteauneuf-le-Rouge (is it similar to what you could see (Paul Cézanne) from your window?). That's the first time that I'm wondering where people would think I come from (I thought I sound french with my broken english).
It must be fun for you to compare the Bullet Train vs the TGV, right?

No, maybe because of the name Arthurs, I have known a couple of French people with that name.
