Hi,
Although I've already posted in General questions, I thought I should introduce myself. My name's Gareth, I'm from the UK, and I'm a software developer (have been for nearly 20 years) and artist producing work under the name Moopf. I first developed for iOS back in 2008 with a game called Hiqup (no longer available) and then in August last year brought some characters I'd developed aimed at children called Arthur & Charles to iOS with a release called Create & Play. I produced everything in that app - artwork, music and coding.
Since then I've been looking for a cross-platform development system (in 2008 I was just using Objective-C, for the release last year I used cocos2D) to develop a couple of projects this year, hence what's led me to Gideros. I have been trialling a competitor product but am finding that a little too closed and with some strange design decisions, and some big omissions, and I'm already liking the look of Gideros - especially the plugin option, which helps remove some of my fears about going to an abstracted SDK over coding directly. I've also grown to like Lua over the last few weeks, which I hadn't used before (although I don't think I'll ever get out of the habit of wanting to use { } instead of then and end)
Anyway, I'll most likely have a good first play with Gideros this weekend after which I'm sure I'll have lots more questions.
If you want to find out more about me my website is at
http://www.moopf.com/ , the website for my characters Arthur & Charles is at
http://www.arthurandcharles.com/ and the iTunes URL for the app I released last August is here:
http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/arthur-charles-present-create/id454675579?mt=8Anyway, looking forward to getting to grips with Gideros and hopefully it will fit the bill for me.
Cheers,
Gareth / Moopf
