Nice one, love the quality and responsiveness.
If you add a couple of more screens to provide settings, instructions, etc that will make it look more polished and more like a game/app not a single screen app.
It reminds me of a car racing game and I would try tilting the device to control it. Where you can try to rotate the stage instead to provide an illusion of the camera rotating but the object being in the center (of the screen) at all times

The aim for this release was to get something minimal out, and stop procrastinating over which features to include.
The base gameplay is there, and I wanted to know if people actually like it. My expectations were low for this release, and I'm very pleased with the response so far. So in the next few weeks I'll look at the feedback and start working on v1.1.
@OZApps thanks for the feedback, I agree with the standard options to make it a bit more robust. As far as the controls go, I did try a lot of options, including accelerometer, but after a lot of play testing (mostly on people I know...) simplicity won out.
Any other ideas for new features or changes, everyone?

I like the graphics..

Some feedback...
- There's a twitch after hitting wall. Maybe add some time between death and menu load?
- If graphic is not vector based, texture filtering would look real nice.
- Controls and physics are near perfect, refrain from editing those.
- At my current skill level, reaching speed zones 6-7 is pretty normal; but I feel reaching those zones is taking a bit too long. Reducing the time spent in easier zones could be good for more experienced players and help with user retention... might also increase ad banner impressions.
Overall, great game! Good luck with v1.1!

235 km/h. That zone 7 is a b****.
Hit 258 last night.
WHAAAAT?!! I thought I'd be Gideros Champion with 140 km/h!
My new goal is to beat you!

I just tried it again. To reproduce the behaviour, after crashing, I SWIPE 'main menu' (instead of tapping it). Each swipe seems to make the button unusable for about one second, so if I panic and swipe it twice or more before attempting a tap, it seems frozen.
As long as I don't try to swipe it, it now seems to work normally most of the time. It still occasionally freezes/ignores (or at least hesitates before reacting to) the tap.
By the way, if I crash immediately, it still says 'good luck!' immediately after the crash.
Great game though, mate.
Congrats on your App Store success too. Amazing!

Great detailed description of the swipe bug. Will fix this for the next version. I'm clearing the messages as soon as you hit the wall, so you shouldn't see it after the crash?
Nic
After further usage, I now think the delay/freezing is not (necessarily) caused by swiping. It occurs just as often when I tap (without ever swiping). Sorry about that. Now I think the delay/freezing might be caused by the app trying to load an external advert.
Regarding 'good luck!', maybe my brain is swapping the order of events, but I'm pretty sure that 'good luck!' sometimes appears momentarily after I deliberately, immediately crash the car. Obviously this behaviour (I couldn't say 'bug') is really unimportant because no normal player would crash that soon.
By the way, did you ever play Micro Machines on the SNES? Your game would be great fun with multiple competing players on the track, jostling and bumping each other. In Micro Machines, the overhead camera used to strive to remain centred on the average position of the leader and the other players, but the camera had two strict rules: 1) Keep the leader on the screen; and 2) never change zoom. So, any players who fell too far behind and disappeared off the screen would be eliminated for that round. The last player left on the screen would win one point. Then all players would return. It was SO much fun. Both the steering and the track design in No Brakes feel similar to Micro Machines. Now I want someone to BUMP!

Thanks for more info, i think I have nailed it down. And yes, Micromachines was awesome! Would love to add a cpu opponents or multiplayer mode. Like the elimination mode, very clean.
