Refusal of marketing --What does it mean?

Google offers me to agree to this:

Refusal of marketing

Only promote my app on Google Play, as well as on Google-owned online and mobile services. I understand that any changes to this setting may take effect within 60 days.

Does anyone understand why this?

Not seen this before - maybe they are offering to promote your game as long as it's exclusive?

It's in the google console under the 'pricing and distribution' tab

Ahh, that's always been there. Leave it unticked so they may promote you in literature or elsewhere.

It has always been, but I don't know what advantages it gives if you enable it in 'enable' mode, I have not found any explanation in the documentation

It's basically in case you have any issues with google promoting without your knowledge. Maybe, for example, you only have the rights for specific countries - eg a Sudoku game can't be sold or marketed in Japan.

Google has a separate section where you can specify in which countries to promote the game.

I think this item prohibits me from posting games in other stores but i'm not sure

No, that's not what it's for. It's in case you don't want google to market your game outside the store.

There is no benefit. It's for people who do not want Google to help promote their game - some people may not want their help. In short, leave it unticked.

But there must be some reason why people do not want .. there must be some sense for google to ask this consent ..

By ticking it you are probably agreeing to some terms and conditions that will protect google from any legal issues should they arise.

But this consent is not obligatory - that is why I do not see the point in this ..

It's there so you can opt out of their external marketing to the store. Some people may want to do this like I said - in case they haven't bought the rights to specific IP outside of certain countries. They may need to control all aspects of where the ip is marketed.

Eg for some games different countries may have different arcade conversions where they shouldn't be marketed in other countries. I think this happened for the C64 version of Outrun, in the states one company had the rights and in the EU I think US Gold had the rights - so US Gold had their version and whoever it was in the States had theirs.

Neither place could advertise or market they game outside their region, nor encourage anyone else to do the same.

@SinisterSoft I disagree with you - because if I do not want to place my game in other stores besides google - I will not place my game in other stores and I do not need to mark this consent with Google for this purpose.

@SinisterSoft I have a logical theory, but I'm not convinced I'm right:

Small game developers are reluctant to spend their time placing their game in different stores, so they transfer the exclusive rights to place the game in the google store.

And it is profitable for Google to promote games that are only available in the Google Store and are not featured in competitor stores.

So in google play search, it shows exclusive games above non-exclusive games

The tick box is nothing to do with being exclusive to google. It doesn't mention that anywhere - it's just about disabling google extra marketing that's not on the play store or a google site - eg not at shows or at press releases on non-google owned property.

I see this item in Ukrainian and maybe it is such a translation.
But the words 'I refuse to promote my game outside of Google services' - to me means exclusivity

I don't want to hijack this thread, but why can't it be sold in Japan? Is that due the name ? AFAIK this game was not created there.

Everything that is prohibited from being published in Japan is listed here: -Google does not forbid you to create your own sudoku variants for Japan!

No, but the Sudoku trademark is strickly enforced in Japan (apparently) - you're just asking for trouble.

I found out that in Japan the registered trademark 'Sudoku' in English letters. So they call it another name:- ''Nanpre (seat number)'.

The game is not trademarked so it can be published. And souvenirs with the word 'sudoku' are forbidden to sell.
