Did you get an Action Require from google play - Switch to the Play Referrer API by March 1, 2020

It seems like the data is not used in the template,do you have to update the template to implement it?

  • I didn't get anything

  • only the ads plugin is included in my apps.
Implementing it is not difficult, but I wonder why it is required.
  • Maybe it will go away if you add the gaming plugin?

  • I haven't got this one but I'm getting all manner of crap about admob.
  • It seems like the games that get this action are using play-services-ads:18.2.0.
  • Oh. I'm in the process of removing ads from all of my games, I'm finding admob is just too much of a pain to deal with.

I use applovin and unity ads, no issues.

Guys say that admob's strong side is banner ads. While UnityAds is better at rewarded videos.

@antix May I ask you which one you're considering?

For apps and games whose include children as their audience, only those enterprises meet Google requirements and so they are certified:

    AdColony
    AppLovin
    ChartBoost
    Google Ad Manager
    Google AdMob
    InMobi
    ironSource
    Kidoz
    StartApp
    SuperAwesome
    Unity Ads
    Vungle

Here is the link to the article.
  • By the way, which of these ad networks do you think pay better?
  • @plicatibu I'm really now just going to make games as a hobby... I pretty much failed trying to make them to get rich LOL. So I guess the answer to your question is "none of them". Trying to keep up with their outrageous terms and conditions is too tiresome.

I'll just have a shop where you can donate a dollar or two to me and I'm even thinking of ditching that in favor of a Patreon type sponsorship system because google take way too much for the very little they actually provide (IMHO).

Google take 30% of every dollar earned, and then the New Zealand government take another 15%, and then because it is income... I pay another 25% on what I got after the first two taxes to the New Zealand government on top. It's a crime :D

    Google AdMob
Allows you to connect with other providers through it, you can also set up ad blocking for your competitors there, you can also set up cross-advertising in your applications

  • @oleg Many years ago, when I had some games on Google Play tried AdMob ads.

I tried it to be sure ads provider wouldn't show any inappropriate ad but it was a pain in the neck because I had to update its library too frequently.

Is AdMob still requiring us to update its library frequently?

    Regards.

  • @oleg thats strange that you ave no problems at all because I get my apps removed every now and then when they violated some term or another... generally because the app served an inappropriate ad to a young person.

This annoys me greatly because google own admob. Both google and admob must know the rating of my game, but admob still showed a bad ad. They should have that working a lot better.

Having to resubmit stuff in the console endlessly and having to contact them to unblock my apps is just a pain in the backside.

You need to go into the admob settings and disable sensitive categories. Or google play and set the age of 13+ players play. google .com/apps/publish/?account=ID#AppContentCenterPlace

@oleg I used AdMob because I thought it would not publish inappropriate ads. :/

Your tips explained a lot. Thanks.

Admob cannot tell where a user downloaded your load from Google, from the section for children, or from your site, from the section for adults - so you must determine the age rating of the advertisement yourself.

Without adult advertising, your game will be shown in the kids directory and you will have more downloads - but children do not have money, so children will reduce your ad revenue even. In addition, adult advertising is more expensive if you give up your kids audience - your revenue will increase.

If your audience is adults, it's better to monetize the game with advertising, if your audience is kids, it's better to make a paid game.

  • Plus, most kids/parents bypass all the child restrictions anyhow - so no real issue regarding making you app 13+

Even if you include a rating of your game 13+ - Google can ban adult advertising if the word 'kids' is in the game's metadata,
'for kids' - they will write to you 'your game could potentially attract children's attention'

So the word 'kids' cannot be used in the description of the game in the store, it is not possible to post photos of children in screenshots and videos
