Hi,
I've been working on a Gideros based game for ~ 5 weeks now and have most of the core in place. I was thinking about blogging about it as well as share the news to get a head start on marketing the game. I was wondering if anybody thinks this is "dangerous" for your game idea to get stolen by someone or any other possible concern. Not to say my idea is a killer, but I am a bit nervous sharing info with people other than my friends about an incomplete game. Any opinions?
Additionally: Do you think screenshots are dangerous to post for fear of someone stealing your "style" of graphics along with your idea?

Try, tell any dev, I have an idea for a game, let's create it and split the profit. Chances are your offer will be declined.
And about copycats, that just recreate other people games, well they need a stable and proofed concept that works, they will not waste their time on original ideas, that were not checked to be worth their time and make money.
Of course there is always some percentage of possibility of that happening, that someone might steal your idea, but it's rather small. Because idea is around 1% percent of the full finished app. I have tons of them, a little less prototypes, lesser almost finished games and only couple finished games. So idea on it's own does not stand much of a chance.
And BTW you don't have to share whole idea, gameplay, etc. But sharing couple of screenshots definitely won't harm.
@amaximov You can read the author's sharing in the comment section:

If you do a solid, polished, professional job then your own individual flair will shine out from your game - look how many people have written tetris, space invaders or pacman over the years and look how many of them are remembered and still as playable today as the originals.
Chances are your own game will be heavily influenced by games you've seen / played in the past so by sharing your own creations your only giving back.
The other way to look at it - opening up your game at this stage commits you to blogging about it, allows your to build an audience, get feedback and means your more likely to finish the game.
Plus if your idea is any good you'll still have to ram it down peoples throats before they start to take notice - it's a peculiar sort of paranoia that makes developers think that they're site is the most important one on the internet that's viewed everyday by the best and brightest the game development world has to offer and that they're idea is so revolutionary that there'll be a queue a mile long of developers waiting to see what they do next so they can copy it and make a fortune (there is sarcasm in that last paragraph if you can't see it).
Bottom line - Anyone copying an idea verbatim is hardly likely to lavish the same care and attention on it that you will so even IF they do copy it - people will know which is the better product (assuming you do intend to make a better product!)
