SPAM really getting out of hand

With this new halknulker whatever user, there are a couple of posts. Understand that the Forum software has limitations on what it can and what it cannot do,

1. is there some way of limiting a new user to post more than 1 post in a week, though they can reply as many times to their own post.

2. Can there be a catchpa for the initial post, that way you can eliminate scripted multiple spam

3. restrict any new user to post for a week (cooling off period) so a spammer has to come back after a week and if the account spams, block it/ban it or black list it, make a note of the IP

4. Can other users have the provision to mark a message as spam, if more than 4/5 users mark it as spam, the message is not displayed and then @ar2rsawseen can delete it or check why it was marked as spam.

it does not matter to the spammers, it irritates the genuine users and if that happens, they achieve their goal.

@platypus, I am aware that this topic was raised a couple of time earlier but with the number of spam posts that took up nearly two screenfuls, it was appallingly irritating.

the idea is to not allow posting links for new users, but there is no plugin fr that, I would have to make our own vanilla forum plugin, which can take some time.
Currently I managed to remove posted links from activities and will work on the plugin later

Although @Platypus your suggestion most probably will work the best, we still want the forum to be accessible for users without the wish to develop or use Gideros, but rather know more about, etc.

Both CAPTCHA and an additional anti-bot measure were implemented by @Atilim some time ago. These recent spam attacks are evidence that humans are perpetrating at least the initial infiltration of the forum.

Regarding links:
Preventing spammers from posting links does not prevent them from filling the forum with spam and displacing all of the Gideros-related posts, like that spammer did today. If a potential Gideros customer visited the forum for the first time today, they would have chosen another SDK*.

(*and then ended up here in a week or two when they, like the rest of us, realise Gideros is the best!)

You're amazing, mate. Thank you.

However, as I indicated above, blocking links would be a disincentive to intelligent, logical, reasonable, unspiteful human spammers (there probably are no such spammers), but it is not a prevention measure. They can still spam the forum (and the spam is relayed to the Twitter feed).

WOW!! Even I cannot post links, with about 1500 posts under my belt. I do not post links unless they are to a very important website or a youtube video demonstrating something cool. Still, linking ability gone...

UPDATE: If nothing has been changed on the backend, then with the initial post, I cannot post a comment with a link, but once I post it, I can add a link by editing it. A Spam bot wouldn't do that, so that would take care of things, I hope....

You could set it up so you cant post more letters than the number of days you are a member for....

"MrBackDoorKing" creates and account.

(time passes)... 2 days later you he posts:
"Hi"
(time passes)... 4 more days.
"Hi all"
(time passes)... 5 more days
"I need help"

Do the new rules forbid new users to post a link?

I had covered a few examples in a comment I made in the past like :

many third party developers would need to access the forum in order to ask our community feedback about whether they should invest and make their product available for Gideros or not.
- Spine
- Kwik
- TexturePacker (now compatible)
- SpriteHelper / LevelHelper (now compatible)

Also, think about all those services that work great with Gideros but are not part of the app development itself.
What if Revmob, Chartboost, etc.. wanted to get in touch with our users, write a message (why not a special partnership with a discount, or advertise their Charboost Bootcamp)?
That also works for Countly.

Is that still possible for those new users to post a link, or not?
